Trusted Rockville Implant Supported Dentures
Professional care for your dental needs
A specialized solution for restoring smiles
Overdentures, also referred to as implant-supported dentures, are modern, removable dentures placed on top of special dental implants. Conventional dentures rest on the gum tissue and jawbone underneath, while our Rockville implant-supported dentures are anchored in place by dental implants.
At Project Dental, Dr. Jang recommends our high-quality overdentures for patients who:
- Have multiple or all teeth missing
- Want to have a restored, even smile
- Have strong bone tissue in the jaw area
To be a good candidate for overdentures, it’s important to note that the patient should have good overall oral health, especially in the gum and jawbone tissue. This is because the bone tissue must completely surround the anchor piece for the procedure to be successful.

Standard Dentures vs. Implant Overdentures
Standard dentures are affordable, quick, and removable, helping patients restore proper teeth function. Over time, however, the denture may become loose due to bone deterioration or lack of natural teeth helping to hold the denture in place.
Overdentures, on the other hand, are more permanent and do not dislodge easily. Implant-supported dentures provide greater comfort, confidence, and stability than a standard dentures, making it an excellent investment into your oral health.
The benefits of implant-supported dentures include:
- A permanent, modern, and dependable solution to missing teeth
- An increased confidence when eating, smiling, and laughing
- Preservation of jaw bone, which helps keep a youthful look
- No need to worry about sudden denture dislodgement
- A more natural appearance
Getting Started on Implant Supported Dentures treatment at Project Dental
First, Dr. Jang will review all the steps of the implant overdenture process with you.
Next, our we’ll perform a comprehensive examination on your oral health, and thoroughly review your medical and dental history. 3-D Cone Beam radiographs may be taken to determine your bone heights and if you need any additional surgeries like bone grafting for additional bone strength.
Then Dr. Jang will administer local anesthetic to ensure a painless experience. Multiple titanium implants are then screwed into your jaw bone. Stitches are placed into the gum tissue to help you heal.
Once the tissue is healed, Dr. Jang will expose the implants and place a healing cap to help guide where the abutment and replacement tooth will go.
When the personalized overdenture is made, Dr. Jang will secure the teeth in place. You will be given post-care instructions on how to take care of your new prosthetic.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are implant-supported dentures?
Our Rockville implant-supported dentures, also called overdentures, are removable dentures that attach securely to dental implants for added stability.
How are overdentures different from standard dentures?
Traditional dentures rest directly on the gums and can shift over time as the jawbone changes. Our Rockville Implant-supported dentures are anchored to implants, providing improved retention, comfort, and confidence when eating, speaking, and smiling.
Who is a good candidate for overdentures?
Patients missing multiple or all teeth may be good candidates, especially if they have healthy gums and adequate jawbone to support implants. Our experts will perform a thorough evaluation to determine whether implant-supported dentures are the right fit for your needs.
Do Rockville implant-supported dentures feel more secure?
Yes. Because they attach to implants, overdentures are much more stable than conventional dentures. Many patients appreciate not having to worry about slipping or discomfort during daily activities.
Will overdentures help prevent bone loss?
Dental implants stimulate the jawbone similarly to natural tooth roots, which can help reduce bone deterioration over time. This support can also help maintain facial structure and a more youthful appearance.
What is the process for getting overdentures?
Treatment begins with a comprehensive exam and 3D imaging. We’ll place the implants, allow time for healing, and then design a custom overdenture that fits securely and looks natural.
How long does treatment take?
The timeline varies depending on healing and whether bone grafting is needed. Many patients complete treatment over several months to ensure long-term comfort, stability, and success.
